Engineering software that assists in planning the drilling process or in drilling the well. This includes real-time monitoring software for use while the well is being drilled.

Geologic and Well Log

This category is strictly for software for oil and gas applications. Generic geological software that could be used by a research scientist as well as a oil and gas geologist should be submitted to Science: Earth Sciences: Geology: Computer Applications or Science: Earth Sciences: Geology: Petroleum: Software.

Vendors of digital well logs, formation tops and all other subsurface data that is not geophysical. Also includes software that is specifically designed to use these types of data.

Geophysical

Submit companies that are primarily data vendors to this category. Consulting companies that also sell some software should be submitted to Science: Earth Sciences: Geophysics: Products and Services: Consulting.

Service companies that sell geophysical data. Many of these same companies also sell software to manipulate that data.

Production Records

Service companies whose main business is the sale of data about current and historical oil and gas production.
