NewsCache - Usenet News cache server for Unix. Distributed under the GNU Public license. Reduces required network bandwidth of the news server. Multiplexes between different news servers and allows offline news reading.
Newsd - Open source, standalone local news server for private newsgroup serving on a single server. It does not interface with other news servers and cannot manage distributed news feeds.

Cleanfeed - Spam filter for Usenet transit servers, scans the incoming newsfeeds for spam and tells the server to reject any it finds. It can also block binary and HTML posts. Written in Perl, can be used on servers running INN, Diablo, Cyclone, Typhoon, Twister, Breeze, or DNews.
