Note that Catalan and Galician, although members of the Romance family, are not dialects of Spanish, but separate languages, and the speech of the Aran Valley, close to Spain''s border with France, is a dialect of Occitan. Basque, of course, is also a separate language, and not part of the Indo-European family at all. Overseas (mostly Latin American) varieties of Spanish, insofar as they are not Creoles, should be included among Spanish dialects, on the other hand.
