Only websites that include significant information on more than one Amazonian tribe should be submitted in the Main Amazonian Category. Those specific to individual tribes should be submitted to one of the subcategories (Jivaroan, Panoan, Peba-Yaguan, Quechuan, Ticunan, Tucanoan, Tupi-Guaranian, Urarinan, Witototan, or Yanomam). Subcategories refer to linguistic groups. For more information with respect to the appropriate linguist group to submit to, refer to the Ethnologue Language Family Index at:

http://www.ethnologue.com/family_index.asp

If a prospective site for submission does not fit into one of the subcategories, a new category can be created. In cases of new category creation, the submitter should include more than one submission suggestion to prevent the new subcategory from only including one item.

more information (editors only)

Websites related to native Amazonian people. Includes native tribes of the Amazon River Basin. On topic material is very broad and ranges from formal anthropological studies to informal photographic essays. Includes websites dedicated to the Amazonian people of Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, and Bolivia.
Please only submit sites that are directly related to this category, rather than sites that might have some general bearing or whose content is proportionally more devoted to other topics. In other words, if your site is about archaeology, just because archaeologists have done research on the pre-Columbian Amerindians of the Caribbean will not necessarily ensure that your site is listed in this category. Also, if your site is about a wide variety of topics, but you have one or two pages in your site, or some links, on Caribbean Amerindians, then your site will not be listed here.
Information, web sites and related resources about indigenous peoples of the Caribbean region
Includes sites concerning indiginous peoples of Mesoamerica (Central America).
This category is for sites dealing with the Métis culture of specifically, and not simply the general amalgamations of European and First Nations cultures.
Although, in many circles (particularly within the United States), the term "Métis" has come to mean anyone whose ancestry include European and First Nations peoples, the most correct use of the term refers to a group of people that had the beginning of their nation's organization originating in the Red River area of North America and are now recognized as one of Canada's aboriginal peoples. While it is true the Métis culture evolved from the merging of European and First Nations culture, the largest influences on this new nation was from French fathers and Cree mothers. The great dependence on the bison of the Canadian prairie also played a big part in aspects of the Métis culture. Some elements of Métis culture include:
  • Michif, a distinct language
  • Clothing, such as capote, buckskin jacket, mitasses, and Assumption sash
  • Food, such as bannock (gallette), rubaboo, and pemmican
  • Fiddling and the Red River Jig
  • A flag with a blue or red background and a white infinity symbol
If your site belongs in a subtopic of Native Americans, careful submission to the appropriate category is appreciated.
This category is for sites devoted to the first peoples of North America: Native Americans, American Indians, or First Nations. It is especially for those sites created by and for Native Americans, though scholarly sites about Native Americans may be accepted. The category is not meant for sites marketing and selling Native American arts, crafts, and other goods, as there are several appropriate categories in the directory devoted to those sites.
The region of Patagonia extends from the foothills of the Andes to Tiera del Fuego at the southern tip of South America and encompasses much of Chile and Argentina. This category is intended for sites on the indigenous populations of the region, the Mapuche being the largest group but also including the Tehuelches, Ona, Pehuenche, Querandís and Araucanians, among others.
