The architecture of the pointed arch, the rib vault and the flying buttress, which came together to form the fully Gothic style in mid-12th-century France. It spread throughout Europe where it developed local forms.

Gothic Revival

The movement to consciously revive the Gothic style became fashionable in England from c.1750 and later in the rest of Europe and America. In the 19th century it was the accepted style for churches and popular for public buildings.
